The Registered Housing Specialist program is an optional professional certification program developed by the North Carolina Manufactured Housing Institute. To receive NCMHI's RHS designation, participants study a manual, attend a four hour seminar and must pass the North Carolina state manufactured housing retail salesperson license exam. The RHS Manual covers such topics as manufacturing, financing, sales tax, Manufactured Housing Board, Division of Motor Vehicles, zoning and more. This material is covered in detail during the seminar and the RHS Manual is the official study guide for the state license exam. The RHS Program does not include sales training; the concentration is on state and federal regulations and general knowledge of the industry needed to give customers accurate information. NCMHI members have long believed that enhancing the professionalism of retail salespeople and others in the industry strengthens both the overall image and service to customers. This is especially true as regulations have become more complex and customers have become more discriminating. The RHS program grew out of this belief.
